As an American, I am deeply touched by the expressions of sorrow and
sympathy from listmembers from other countries around the world. But I
would also remind everyone that the World Trade Center not only was the
workplace of many non-Americans, but also a major tourist attraction for
foreign visitors. It may be days or weeks before people from other
countries around the world are aware of the heavy death toll on their own
citizens who had the misfortune to be in the building during the attacks.
The Washington Post, I know, has published a list of tenants of the two
towers, which shows the international nature of the businesses housed in the
World Trade Center :

or go to
http://www.washingtonpost.com/ and scroll down to bottom left of the main
page under "World Trade Center Firms"
I want to convey my condolences to the citizens of ALL nations who have lost
friends or family in this attack upon the WORLD community. It is not just
an American tragedy.
