I think you hit the nail on the head. Spielberg seems to have gotten
to the point that everything he does has to have "his vision" in it.
He really doesn't do faithful adapatations.
Don't get me wrong, he is an extremely talented and skilled
director. However, he would be required to "not be Spielberg" to do
HP right, and I have my doubts he could do it.
Columbus, on the other hand, is perfectly comfortable working with
Rowling's vision. He isn't so eager to give it "the Columbus touch."
