Cerberus is actually the name of the three-headed dog guarding the 
entrance to Hades.  JKR must have thought it funny to name Hagrid's 
thre-headed dog something as benign as "Fluffy."  It reflects 
Hagrid's attitude toward dangerous beasts. (Fantastic Beasts is full 
of funny things about this, ostensibly written by Ron and Harry.)
