Quidditch games are another good example, where the pitch has to be 
much larger than a soccer field, for example. (Picture fourteen people 
flying around in the space of a soccer field. Mid-air collisions 
galore). We're always told there's a big crowd.

You can't squeeze a school year into 300+ pages without leaving out 
about 90% of what goes on. If a character isn't relevant, the 
character isn't there.
