I totally agree with you, Jim.  Octavia Butler posited in her 
Xenogenesis theory that human beings were hierarchical... and we 
*are*.  We tend to Sort ourselves according to our differences even 
when we self-righteously say that we do not.

We must remember that according to JKR's implied backstory (derived 
from canon and the schoolbooks), the Muggle world's persecution is 
what drove the wizarding world into hiding in the first place.
