<< Now I know I'm not quoting from the most reliable source but... The News
of the world is reporting that Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is
currently four hours long, and that Chris
Columbus now has the task of making it shorter (because Warner Bros don't
think that kiddies will be able to sit through it).>>
I would also be a bit wary of any 'news' reported in the NOTW, but if this
*is* true, I look forward to the director's cut of the film, which would,
presumably, involve leaving in all the bits CC took out.
Wasn't there talk of GoF being far too long for children of a certain age
and didn't most children devour GoF just like everyone else? I think
children would be as bothered as adults at the thought of scenes being cut.
Alternatively, perhaps Warner Brothers would consider releasing an edited
version for restless kids and a fuller version for the millions of adult
fans?
One of the things mentioned in the recent "Vanity Fair" article is the idea
that they threw away the rulebook when making this film in an effort to be
as true to the book as possible. To me, that suggests that they might
produce an incredibly long film and not think so much about tailoring it for
a particular market.
Neil (who would quite happily take up residence in a cinema seat, watching
the HP film playing on a loop).
