with honeycakes so it may have been the magic of Orpheus' playing 
that got him by, not any special susceptibility to music on Cerberus' 
part.

It's definitely Orpheus' playing. Cerberus is much harder to get by 
than Fluffy. I wonder if Mrs. Rowling was thinking of that myth when 
she thought of the way to get by Fluffy. Or maybe she was just 
thinking of the saying that songs soothe the savage beast. In any 
case, I'm definitely thinking too much into it. Orpheus just came 
into mind when I read the post about Cerberus.
