I will try to speculate some answers for you.

< 1. In my book, and I don't know how this can't be a mistake, Black
says to Pettigrew in the Shrieking Shack that Voldemort had been in
hiding for 15 years (it's when Hermione asks why Pettigrew didn't
touch Harry...I'm not sure the page #). But at this point, harry is
13, and Voldemort has only been in hiding for 12, maybe 12 1/2 years.
Is this in everyone's book, or do you think it's just a mistake?
There are many things that point to and fro on this one...I'm
inclined to think it's a mistake though. >

I am not sure since I don't have my copy of PoA in front of me, but
don't they say nearly 15 (or something to that affect) years instead of an
exact number. Also, although Harry is 13 in this book, towards the end he
is almost 14 since this scene takes place at the end of the school year.
If this is so, V. has been in hiding for almost 13 years which
"rounding up" to the nearest 5 would be 15. A lot of times I know that I
speak in "round" (meaning nearest 5 instead of 10) and we know that JKR
is very realistic in her writing.

Or else it could be a slight mistake.

2. If Lupin was studying the Marauder's Map before running out to the
shrieking shack, why didn't he see a SECOND Harry Potter and Hermione
Granger? As they were approaching the shack, the time-travelling H&H
were on the grounds, in the woods with Buckbeak. We know that the
time-travelling self is in that specific time frame because of the
Patronus deal -- there are two Harrys by the lake -- and the (and
this is an approx. quote) "they heard a last pair of feet run across
the entrance hall and slam a door" [those feet are Hermione and
Harry, time travelling.]. So there should be two Hermiones and two
Harrys on the map. If he thought seeing Pettigrew on the map was
strange, SURELY seeing two Harry/Hermiones would be stranger. Or
maybe he just decided not to say anything about it...still...dodgy...

Very good question. The only answer I can think of was that he was
so suprised to see Peter that he didn't notice the second Harry and
Hermione. Yes, I very loose explanation, but there you have it. Again,
maybe just an over sight. Dealing with time travel is a tricking
business, especially writing about it. You have to think about all the
consequences in advance, as well as play philospher and scientist at the
same time. I am willing to let JKR off the hook on this over sight.
