I think time flows the same, they just tend to lose track as the
decades and centuries roll by. NHN must be in error in one of the two
statements. The first reference, the 400-year one was an offhand
remark, is just said in passing. He didn't think it through at all.
In fact, he may have used the phrase "almost four hundred years" to
refer to himself for so long that he used it again this time without
realizing it. The second reference is to his Deathday, a date he
would certainly NOT forget, one he planned for and make a special
note of. It's pretty hard to believe that he'd hold a party and make
a big fuss about a date he just sort of remembered. I think we can
safely accept the Deathday date as conclusive.
