Hm -- Crucio regurgitates screams. Not sure about Imperius. BUt I
would think the little things -- making fire and such, come out, but
are so small, or have no real *object* to regurgitate in smoke, that
you just don't notice them. It's odd.

Another question:

How did Lily and James (whichever one said it -- at this point I
can't remember) know that the cup would take Harry back to Hogwarts?
Portkeys, we know from earlier in the book, aren't always this way,
as we saw wizards throwing them away after being used at the World
Cup. This is my somewhat farfetched theory --
These beings sort of live in the wand they were destroyed by. There's
a little universe in there.
Evidence: In the uncorrected version, James says about Lily to
Harry: "She's coming, she wants to see you." In the corrected, Lily
says James is coming. How do they know that?
Then, one of them says the cup would take Harry back to Hogwarts. How
could they know this unless that wand was used to turn that cup into
a portkey that reverses ( Moody/Crouch could have portkeyed himself
to Wormtail, wormtail fixed it with VOldy's wand, then Crouch went
back to the center of the maze).

Far fetched, I know...
