Just a wizard. I see no reason to assume
otherwise.

Death Eaters,

Don't know how Fudge got on the the list, he's no
Death Eater. The coward was Karkaroff; the one who'd
left Voldemort is Snape; and Bartemius Crouch jr. is
the one who's remained loyal and already reentered
Voldemort's service.
I think Bagman really was just a stooge and not a real
Death Eater.

I think he's just on the train because it's a
convenient way to get to Hogwarts. He ends up in the
same compartment as HRH because nobody else wants to
sit with a sleeping teacher. Now whether he really was
asleep the whole time is another question.....

> 4. How many students are at Hogwarts?

Approximately two hundred eighty. Each entering
class averages forty students which tend to be
assigned to the four houses in roughly equal
proportions. Multiply that by seven years and you get
two hundred eighty students. Add in teaching and other
staff and you probably get a total, excluding ghosts
and house elves, of three hundred or so.
The Lexicon lists some evidence for a larger number
but all can be explained otherwise. The 'hundred'
carriages used to transport returning students from
the train probably transport the luggage as well. The
two hundred Slytherin supporters in the Quidditch
stands probably included parents and alumni. And the
seating for about twelve hundred at the Yule ball was
doubtless meant to include outside guests as well as
the student body.

> 5. Does Snape really want the DADA job?

Well the students think he does but there is no
direct evidence. Considering the difficulties he's
having getting and keeping a DADA instructor and that
he trusts Snape it seems odd Dumbledore wouldn't give
him the job if he wanted it.

No. The rest is all coincidence and/or self
fulfilling prophecies.

    Darned if I know.

    I believe it's true.

> 9. Why don't Fred, George or Harry see or notice
> Pettigrew on the Marauder's Map?

Why should they? There are hundreds of little dots
they'd have no reason to look and see who was in the
Gryffindor dorms, nor would the name Peter Pettigrew
mean anything to them if they saw it.

By Voldemort, James first, then Lily and finally
Harry. Anything else is just too complicated.
