sound argumentative, but have you even looked at OT-Chatter? It's not just
rambles - it's..."roll calls" (and always has been) and merchandise and
birthdays (canon and fandom - we celebrated Hermione yesterday!) and fanfic
and Nostradamus and food (lots of food!) and a cool online encyclopedia
called Wikepedia and The Sims and the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham
Palace and Yael's post about her cousin who is still missing from last
week's attack and Vanity Fair and the movie and previews and The Leaky
Cauldron and FictionAlley.org and the fact that James Potter's name is in
the credits from the Muppet Movie.
I know that the mods are trying VERY VERY hard to keep as many people happy
as possible at the same time. And part of this inlcudes taking *certain*
things and bringing them to OT Chatter. Now, the ADMINs never said that the
individual questions couldn't be discussed onlist. They just pointed out
that contests and roll calls are to be on OT Chatter. it's nothing new -
it's been that way since the chatter-list started back in February.
Let me ask another question - is the name OT-CHATTER offputting? Do listies
think that it's a rambly, completely non-HP-related thing over there? If you
WON'T join, or even look at it, WHY NOT?

Okay, since you asked, I'll assume you really want to know. I am not
interested in fanfic, merchandise, birthdays canon or otherwise, who was
sorted into which house and has which wand core, etc. And if it is too much
trouble to delete them from my mailbox, it's unlikely that I will take the
time to search through them at the website at even less convenience to
myself. Please understand I am not trying to be critical of the mods who I
think do a wonderful job of keeping this place afloat. But I was enjoying
the speculation that those questions inspired. It was far more interesting
than whether Crookshanks is part Kneazle, a topic of which I thought we'd
never see the end, and was the topic that finally brought me to performing
triage on the main list. Since I can't possibly read everything and seldom
get up the nerve to post I was disappointed to see a topic I was enjoying go
away, that's all.
Luce, the quiet one in the corner
