For crying out loud!

I'm not a moderator, but I've know all of them for over a year now, and I
follow goings-on in the HP4GU-admin forum. Nobody's out to sell our sinister
secrets; they're just trying to give all of us a feeling for the size and
diversity of this group.

Yes, the geography poll is email specific. It had to be, since it was set up
(months ago, may I add) to help people hook up with other listies in their
own areas. It lead to the founding of several regional HP4GU lists - and
thanks to one of those, I plan to catch the film's opening night in London
with a bunch of people I have, as yet, only met in print.

All the *new* polls are anonymous, at least as far as the mods are
concerned. (Whether Yahoo could potentially betray our secrets to the CIA,
is beyond my knowledge. Personally, I don't care, unless they want to do
experiments are the world's first typing goat.)

Nobody has to participate. Polls are a regular thing on lists; they often
help people realize what a broad spectrum of friends they have made. If the
topics don't interest you or if you're uncomfortable about them, there's
absolutely no pressure to do so.
