I tried to post to name a Lupin fan club yesterday, but it didn't
post, so I'll tack it onto Luke's comment. Lupin's problem isn't
that people criticize him or dislike him. It is that people assume
he is expendable.

I noticed in the Derby that Lupin was pegged as the character who was
going to die in OoP. I find this view highly objectionable, and it
pains me each time I even hear it.  Lupin is NOT going to die in OoP;
I have to believe. The people who are saying it are just, well . . .
wrong and have no effect of the impact of these statement on true
Lupin fans. Lupin will stay with us until Book 7, hopefully the last
page of Book 7.

So I propose that the Lupin appreciation club be called D.A.T.L.I.G.
(Desist Arguing That Lupin Is a Gonner). No dues at all, as we can
all do for our favorite shabby, destitute werewolf.

"Well, hello, Peter," said Lupin pleasantly, as though rats
frequently erupted into old school friends around him. "Long time,
no see."  PoA.
