Sorry, but no. *Was* bossy. Can still be bossy on occasion in GoF, but
not overwhelmingly the same bossy person she was in PS/SS. Not at all.
Not in my opinion anyway. I think she's grown alot.

So, she should sit on her hands & not answer questions, why? Isn't it
the duty of the professors to call on other students? She should raise
her hand if she knows the answer, and it is *then* up to the professors
to encourage participation by others or not as they choose.

Ah, but Amy, Hermione is not a *braggart*! That's the point. She may
be a know-it-all. She may be a show-off even. But, that is *not* the
same thing as being a braggart. According to my dictionary, a braggart
is someone given to loud, *empty* boasting. First off, Hermione is
legitimately accomplished & brainy, so even if she was boasting, it
wouldn't be "empty" (without merit). Second, we don't hear her loudly
proclaiming her good marks & such, particularly not in comparison to or
at the expense of others. I maintain that while Hermione has her
faults, being a braggart is not one of them.

LOL! I'll join that one too. Like Catherine, I'm prepared to join just
about anything except C.R.A.B.

Are we the same person Catherine? I too have this debate everytime I've
wanted to write that & like you, I end up substituting some other phrase
to avoid the problem. Perhaps someone can help us out?
Cindy asked why Lupin seems to be the one pegged to die by many of us.
I want to go on record: I don't *want* Lupin to die in OOP. I base my
prediction on the fact that (a) JKR said in some post-GoF interview that
there was a death coming in Book 5 that would "half-crucify" her to
write, and (b) Lupin is one of her favorite characters. I suppose
though that any of the semi-important characters might be enough to
half-crucify JKR, so perhaps Lupin is safe after all. I fervently hope
so but ....
