   I'm not saying he's a genius mind you but his
performance in the TriWizard contest proves he's no
fool. The conjuctivis spell he uses to blind the
dragon in the first test is exactly what Sirius
intended to recommend to Harry so it's safe to assume
it was a good strategy. And a stupid wizard wouldn't
have been able to master the extremely difficult
partial transfiguration spell Krum used in the second
Test. Nor for that matter would Hermione be attracted
to an idiot who isn't even good looking, (she does
have a weakness for a pretty face as we see with
Lockhart).
