from when he was 18 months old...not much, but snippets.

And by the age of 2 the toddler has possibly the closest relationship 
ever with his/her parents.  Some 2-year-old can emphasize with pain, 
so if poor little Neville did see his parents tortured he may have 
been able to at least figure out that Mummy and Daddy were being 
hurt.  Neville strikes me as a sensitive soul anyway.  If this was 
the case then he could have been traumatised by what he saw, and 
perhaps a (botched) memory charm was put on him to ease his pain, 
*not* so he couldn't identify the attackers.

I haven't read through the rest of the posts yet so I hope I'm not 
repeating what someone else has already said!
