A kneazle is a magical creature, described in fantastic beasts and where to
find them. Kneazles are proficient at helping owners find their way home,
and are known for spotting people who are shady or otherwise "nasty"- you
might want to review our Magical Creatures faq or steve vanderark's lexicon.
Also, in an interview, jkr said that crookshanks is part kneazle.
In the march messages, after FBaWTFT and before the interview there was much
lively discussion of whether crookshanks had kneazle blood, because of his
reaction to Wormtail.
And, btw, there has also been discussion of whether crookshanks' nonreaction
to draco on the train is a point on the Not Completely Evil At Present
chart.
