Rita asked

>Hey, SUSAN!!! Whose used James's Invisibility Cloak to end Lily's
engagement to Lucius? It ought to be James, using her own cloak to
>reclaim his own girlfriend, but "It could hide from anyone // Except of
>course the Jack of Hearts." he wouldn't be trying to hide from himself.

James was under the invisibility cloak, but he wasn't doing anything nearly
as constructive as trying to break off Lily's engagement. He was, simply,
trying not to show his face. By that stage he had realised that he had made
a seriously Bad Mistake, which he couldn't see any way to reclaim.

The charms are cast by one of the two girls (and I'm not saying which was
faster to the draw, and which spells the other one had planned) each of whom
is hiding in a railway carriage with her wand out. Both were planning to
take decisive action based on what they believed their Tarot hands to have
told them to do. One significance of Narcissa's hand being reversed,
incidentally, is that depending on what she or Lily thinks of the
Reversal/non-Reversal theory they can each interpret her hand in two
different ways, also. Also, the whole song's about reversal. The nine of
swords, incidentally, was intended to mean poor decision making, but I'm not
saying whose, either.
