Who is Mary Sue?

I don't know where this line of reasoning started, but what book did 
I miss? Who's Mary Sue?

Personally, I wouldn't object to Hermione hooking up with another 
main character, as long as she kept her intelligence and strength. I 
see her as complementing Ron's personality more than Harry's (As far 
as Draco, the thought of Hermione with a 1-dimensional racist DE 
spawn makes me want to die of terminal vomit)
