Anyone else besides me curious as to what happened to
Lily's parents. Especially considering how young Lily
and James had Harry, her parents should have been
alive... they couldn't have been more than 50-60, so
at least ONE of them should have still been alive,
right? And I highly doubt, judging from the
information we've been given so far, that they would
have approved of Petunia's treatment of their own
grandson. No, I have a feeling that, had Harry been
raised by them, it would have been the kind of
childhood Dumbledore envisioned for Harry--one where
he wouldn't be suffocated and made into a pompous
big-head by his fame, yet one where he'd have
knowledge of his place in the wizarding world and
would also be loved. Again, much like the Grangers,
they seem like the ideal parents of a Muggle-born (I'm
not a parent myself, but I imagine it must take a lot
of guts to send your kid off to some place that you
know little about; and a lot of strength of character
to allow your child to have a place in a world that
you know you will never get to share with him/her).
Just wondering why THEY are not taking care of Harry,
and wondering if whatever happened to them maybe added
fuel to Petunia's resentment of the wizarding world
(though it seems she was quite jealous of Lily to
begin with--maybe her parents were a little too doting
on Lily's talent and neglected Petunia? I find it
really ironic that Lily is a flower which symbolizes
innocence, and petunias symbolize resentment :P)
I really hope Harry is not the Gryffindor heir, and in
fact, I think that is a gigantic red herring--a little
cliched to have the Gryffindor heir to defeat the
Slytherin heir, and it goes totally against Rowling's
whole notion that people aren't born to great
destinies, their choices lead them in that direction.
It's a possibility, but at the moment, I don't think
Dumbledore or Harry are Gryffindor's heir... truth be
told, i always imagined Dumbledore would be a good
Hufflepuff for some reason, though Hermione all but
stated he was in Gryffindor (though she didn't say he
was definitely in Gryffindor, just that she heard he
was in Gryffindor). Ever notice, btw, how the sounds
of each house's name reflects their personality.
Gryffindor sounds very noble and brave; Slytherin
sounds very much like a snake, cunning ("slither);
Ravenclaw--the claw reminds me of someone grasping for
knowledge; and Hufflepuff--"huff," "puff" someone
working really, REALLY hard.
Oh, and btw, quick note, and someone feel free to
contradict me if I'm wrong, but we've had no
indication from Snape himself that he looks down on
Mudbloods, we just assume it because of his house.
But I doubt that all Slytherins think like the
Malfoys; there have to be SOME good Slytherins. After
all, I think I'm ambitious but I don't think that
automatically makes me "evil." Though if I was being
sorted, I'd probably be sorted into Gryffindor or
Ravenclaw. But anyway, I like Snape... he's kind of
an anti-hero. He's good when it counts, but he's
still a mean dude you root against at times. I think
there's an interesting backstory on him, and I
definitely want to find out more about his history.
Another acronym challenge, Tabouli and Grey Wolf?

P.S. Ginny's full name COULD be Imogene. Lord knows
if I was a girl, and I can't admit to knowing how
y'all's minds work, even after 20 years, but I don't
think I'd want to go around with a name like that...
when I was little and my sister was born, my parents
were going to name her something awful and I
threatened to call her something diffferent. I could
totally see Gred and Forge doing something similar :P
