Forward hobbles one of the elderly citizens of the village, who will
relate a story of the Old Shipping Wars, which took place when the
members of this group were typing their missives on IBM 1401's on
punched paper tape. And no, he never exaggerates....

It's impossible to say that Ginny is "wrong" for Harry, because she's
too much of a blank slate at this point. We don't know her much, but
we can predict Ginny would be the one who would devote herself totally
to him, who would always do anything to comfort and soothe him. She
would also bring him into the Weasleys, where Harry found family love
for the first time in his conscious life; this factor is (or was)
known, sometimes derisively, as the One Big Happy Weaseley Family, or
OBHWF. Some of our brothers and sisters here think the whole OBHWF
idea is too saccharine for words.

OTOH, Hermione with Harry would be who she is now, keeping her own
counsel about what he needs, including challenging him to get back on
his feet after the trials he goes through. Hers would be the kind of
love that has both head and heart in it, and she wouldn't hesitate to
get tough with him if that's what she thought he needs. However, she
seems destined for Ron, at least in the short term, which is one of
the mismatches of all time.

BTW, you are absolutely right, IMO, that Hagrid is the most emotional
person Harry knows, and a model of male caring.
