After reading about the suggestion of a romantic tryst
between Krum and Hermione in their partially
transfigured animal forms all i have to say is, "Eww,
a cat and a SHARK???" Talk about something being
"violently wrong." :P

Seriously though, I think the likelihood of Hermione
being the 8th person this century (or rather, in the
previous century) to become an animagus... or
actually, I guess it would be 12th person (assuming
there were no other illegal animagi besides Pettigrew,
James Potter, Sirius Black and Rita Skeeter) is quite
high. As I remarked before, she seems to share James'
talent in transfiguration, since it seems like
McGonagall and her have built some kind of mentoring
relationship and Transfiguration appears to be one of
her best classes (along with Charms... I know, I know
she's always talking about Arithmancy, but so far,
we've only WITNESSED her excel in Transfiguration and
Charms). It could end up being some kind of senior
project for her or something :D

Tabouli, I think NAGINI'S BANE is incredibly clever!
Genius, i tell you, genius! So clever, b/c if the
theory's right, they really will prove to be Nagini's
bane (as well as Nagini's master's bane). And
WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART is equally clever, though I
think it's highly unlikely that either of them will
turn to the Dark Side, especially Neville, since he's
seen first-hand since he was a baby the horrifying
effects of the death eaters' work. Ginny could be
slightly more likely than Neville, I suppose, but she
REALLY doesn't seem like the type--although perhaps
she could be Imperius-ed easily. But I'd rather see
my two favorite non-major characters save the day
once. Oh, and those of you who made me think about
Ginny and Neville being paired off... did we ever see
ginny again in Goblet of Fire after the ball?

I really love how Rowling brought back the whole
concept of illegal animagi in book 4, after having
introduced it in Book 3. I wonder if we're going to
see something else from Book 3 used again in the later
books--the Time Turner. So many interesting issues
could be brought up with it... are there more powerful
time turners than the one Hermione used, that could be
used to go back days, weeks, months, or even years?
Could Harry use a more powerful turner to go back and
at least see his parents, if not interact with them?
Will any of our favorite characters be tempted to go
back and change the past using the device? And I
would like to see the Pensieve brought back again.

Someone mentioned how hermione almost seems to have
more support on this list than Harry, and I was
pondering why everyone loves Hermione. I think it's
because up to this point, she seems to be the
character who has displayed the most personal growth.
Not uncommon, since she's the only girl among the
group and we boys tend to mature more slowly (Hey, i
*still* act 11 sometimes... I'm still cracking up
about Ron's "Uranus" joke... and I was shocked Rowling
put that in there :P). Also, I respect her because
while she is highly concerned with academic success
and proving herself, she displays enough maturity as
early as the first book to recognize that her academic
success is not the most important thing in the world.
That's incredible wisdom for someone so young--not
even sure I've truly recognized that quite yet. And
lastly, while she is the teachers' favorite, she is
still quite hated by Snape and insulted by the
Slytherins for being a mudblood, so there's sympathy
there--I think Rowling's drawn her as a very
sympathetic character. She's definitely a brainiac,
but she's not drawn as unsympathetically as say Percy.
I would say the primary difference between her and
Percyi is that she recognizes school and rules are not
the most important things in the world, and she's
guided strongly by compassion (witness her treatment
of Snape, her protection of Lupin, her refusal to
automatically judge the Durmstrang students, etc etc.)
Part of me wonders if she was at all hurt that Ron
was the thing Harry would miss most; not in any kind
of romantic way, just any hurt that Harry still
considered Ron his bestest best friend and Hermione
still came in second, even after the whole ordeal with
the Goblet of Fire and Hermione being the only one to
believe him and stick by him. Or perhaps he selected
both of them, and since Viktor had already chosen
Hermione, the professors "allotted" him Ron only...
who knows?

I was just thinking, it's interesting that each member
of the Trio has an identifying characteristic that
could easily have led to their being sorted into
another house. Ron's intense loyalty to the people he
loves is a very Hufflepuff quality; Hermione's
cleverness--Ravenclaw; and the Sorting Hat itself said
that Harry's desire to prove himself (and, as
Dumbledore commented, his willingness to break the
rules, among other things) would make him a good fit
for Slytherin. I wish we knew what the Sorting Hat
had said to Ron and Hermione, and I'm also wondering
whether Rowling did this on purpose. A group of 3
Gryffindors who are also representative of the other 3
houses of Hogwarts--obviously, had they been sorted
into the other houses, they wouldn't have been able to
interact with each other. I want to find out more
about the Sorting Hat!
