That's why I think they *should* be paid, being appointed by teachers
like that.

The term prefect was translated with "valvoja-oppilas" - refering to
their duty of watching other students, our student-representative of
a group is "luottamus-oppilas" - referring to trust of the students.
They represent the group in government of the student body, and if
someone's not been at school, he or she can well call that student to
ask about homework. So um - they're NOT prefects. They're student's
trustees. Quite different concept, I'd say.

The term "oppilas-edustaja" refers to the 2 chosen to represent all
students at schoolboard. (and also 2 to take their place if the
actual representatives can't make it).

I never was one - and I have no regrets either. I *did* cast a vote,
however.

But not having student-elected representatives, but instead a teacher-
headmaster dictatorship with no student-voice at all! Must say I
don't question rule-breaking in that kind of circumstances, unless it
harms someone or something. I wonder...

What if the Hogwarts students would have a demonstration against
cruel treatment of animals in Potions and Transfiguration and refuse
to participate these classes unless this wrong was corrected?
What if they'd refuse to obey just on say-so without a possibility to
have a voice on the rules? All of them. Every single student would
join in.

What would the staff do?
