If so I would suggest this is evidence of Snape's formality in 
dealing with colleagues and students.  The others are teachers, which 
to me smacks of primary and state secondary school terminology (I'm 
British, I have children at both), while at my then Direct Grant 
Grammar, now private, school, teachers were masters (no mistresses, 
it was an all boys school)

So it may not be the WW, but Snape, who is archaic in this matter.

One reason given for rejecting Finwitch's suggestion that Hermione 
and Ron may marry at Hogwarts is that JKR has ruled out teen 
pregnancy as an issue for the series.  However, just to play devil's 
advocate (after all, what is more fun than eliciting 'ick' 
and 'ewwww' from fellow listies?), could that be misdirection?  The 
context (type 'pregnan' into Aberforth's Goat's search engine) 
implies unintended unmarried pregnancy.  IIRC in English law you can 
marry with very few obstacles from 16, which they will all be at the 
beginning of Book 6 - oops, a few weeks into Book 6 if you want to 
take the perverse, er, I mean, er, transatlantic, view of Hermione's 
age.  So the machinery's all there for a baby at the beginning of 
Book 7, little Romulus Lupin, who will doubtless finish off Voldemort.
