Sorry, I know I should have compbined this with the last one, but I was going 
to sign off and then I thought I'd just read one or two more messages....and, 
well, you know how it is!

Agreed. The whole thing's yucky. But how else do you explain that the way 
Karkaroff looks at Victor when he enters the Yule Ball with Hermione is 
equated with the way Ron looks at Hermione? OK, we learn that Ron's 
ostensible reason is that he feels she's being treacherous by going to the 
Ball with a Durmstrang student, but we know that Krum's his hero and JKR via 
Harry's reaction to Ron's statement about Hermione 'not getting the point' 
tells us that it *was* jealousy that was eating him. I've just realised that 
this opens up another path which I am not even going to look down, let alone 
venture down, so I'll leave it at that.
