Welcome, Archgarchus (and all new members). There are enough
Snape/Lily shippers here that they occupy a large and luxurious ship,
the SS LOLLIPOPS (Tabouli, Mistress of Acronyms, created that for
"Love Of Lily Left Ire Polluting Our Poor Severus"), with many
different sections for different variations. (H'mm, what is
T.A.B.O.U.L.I. an acronym for?)

Like most of the posters who apologize for English not being their
native language, you write English better than many native speakers
do. Btw I agree with you about Great-Uncle Algie's toad and Crouch's
Weatherby, and think that Ron looking hopefully at Fleur was another
case of losing control.

In my opinion, I think that Karkaroff's motive for making nice to
Viktor was 1) to help Viktor win the Championship, which would
increase Viktor's financial value both as a Drumstrang Old Boy who
could be boasted of, and as a superstar athlete, and 2) to get Viktor
to like him so that Viktor would hire him to be hissports agent or
financial manager, positions which give great scope for embezzlement.
His objection to seeing Viktor being so attentive to Hermione at the
Ball (he hadn't been watching Viktor in the Library) was that
Hermione was a sharp thinker, not an airhead, who would glance over
Viktor's contracts and financial records (simply helpfulness, not
snoopiness) if she were married to him or even just 'good friends'.
I think that Ron's romantic jealousy and Karkaroff's wallet hostility
were both described with narrowed eyes because of co-incidence, or a
cliche for describing hostility.

It seems to me that there are a bunch of Ron/Viktor shippers on ffnet.

My friend Roz named her childhood puppy Buffy because she was a buff
(colored) cocker spaniel. Buffy Chandler was named after her maiden
name: she was Dorothy Buffum Chandler.
