Hi, I'm both new, and a lurker, but I thought I'd put my two cents in here.
Liz:"As I've said before, if Draco can open his eyes a little wider
and see what's beyond his pointy little nose; and realize that *maybe*
his dad is wrong about something, he should be okay."
jferer:What's going to do that, though? Uncmark is on to the only thing that might turn Draco around. Little Draco is going to have to get some blood splattered onto his own robes. Daddy Lucius giving him a good taste of what *evil* really is might be the only chance Draco gets. Don't hold your breath.
I think it's possible for Draco to do something similar to what Snape did -- get marked, join Voldemort and grow to seriously regret his decision.
He seems to be someone on a power trip, but he never seems to do anything too cruel or harsh -- he mostly sticks to insults and slander rather than physically harming anyone (calling Hermione a Mudblood, slandering people to Rita Skeeter etc) I don't honestly see him coping well with the amount of cruelty and evil that the Death Eaters live with and enjoy. He's a bully not a sadist.
If he ever becomes a Death Eater I always see him as being a boot-licker who will do anything to avoid being cursed rather than a serious player in the war.
I could be wrong of course, but that's my impression of him.
