I think the Galleons, Sickles, and Knuts come from some special
magical source that can't be imitated (much less created) by
Tranfiguration. Because of the old saying that "money doesn't grow
on trees", I like to think that they grow on very rare magical trees
that are kept under heavy guard, perhaps at the MoM. A similar
possibility is that they are the droppings of some magical beast, but
that page was torn out of the copy of FB that was duplicated for sale
to Muggles.

In my opinion, putting the ingredients into the cauldron and cooking
them as directed wouldn't result in anything but a smelly mess,
perhaps poisonous if the ingredients were poisonous to start with,
but NOT a potion, UNLESS the ingredient were prepared and put into
the cauldron and the cauldron was stirred by a person with magic.
Therefore, not a Squib.

PETTIGREW:

Maybe I'll get around to writing something for the discussion
questions. Meanwhile, I can add one: Why did the Sorting Hat put him
in Gryffindor?
