The two are not mutually exclusive, though.  A person can be 
generally nasty and still have individual reasons for disliking 
various people.  This particular thread began with a question about 
Snape and Neville, so people are concentrating on that, but there 
have been plenty of threads about why he's generally nasty.  If you 
want to start up a new discussion on the subject, we Snapefans will 
be happy to oblige, though I can't guarantee we'll reach a 
consensus. :-)
