Voldemort and wandless magic

Something rather odd, or at least I thought it odd, struck me the other day
when listening to the end of PS/SS (again!).

When Harry and Quirrell confront each other, Quirrell binds Harry magically,
apparently without recourse to a wand.
We know that Dumbledore can perform wandless magic.
But Voldemort, *Voldemort*, the most powerful dark wizard of modern times,
apparently needs a wand. Why?

Is it simply because his magical powers also dissipated when he lost his
body? Was he able to perform wandless magic before his downfall? Can he
*still* not perform wandless magic, now that he has his body back, or was he
too confused and shocked by the Priori Incantatem effect to remember that he
had an alternative to using a malfunctioning wand?

I suppose it could be another case of Voldemort amnesia, in this case the
'Wandless magic.... I forgot' variation. :-)

Any thoughts?

Eloise
