If you'd looked Hagrid up in the Lexicon, you would have discovered
an entire page about him:
http://www.i2k.com/~svderark/lexicon/hagrid.html
On that page, you will find this mention of his house:
House: Gryffindor (BN)
That (BN) is the reference to where that fact is found. In this
case, it refers to the Barnes and Noble interview from October of
2000. More information about that source and the other sources for
Lexicon information can be found here:
http://www.i2k.com/~svderark/lexicon/site_sources.html
There is a link there to a transcript of the interview.
Generally speaking, if you find a detail in the Lexicon which you
wonder about, look for the reference. Everything in the Lexicon is
from either the books or from interviews with the author, so if it's
in there, you be pretty confident that it's correct. Of course,
errors do creep in here and there and I am constantly editing and
expanding, but basically, if it's in the Lexicon, it's canon.
