Steve's right. Although typing "Hermione's age" brings up some 
relevant posts, it also brings up many irrelevant (but interesting) 
ones. I tried "September 19" and got a much more focused search.

I agree completely.  As thorough as JKR is, I really doubt that she 
focused all that much on the implications of choosing Sept. 19 as 
Hermione's birthday.  It would be really fun, though if she 
addressed this issue in a future book, so that we could flatter 
ourselves on having brought this very important point to her 
attention <vbg>.
