First point:  Possible Flint.  I have always brushed over it by 
saying that the book doesn't specifically say the trio didn't take 
the trunks with them in search of a new compartment.

Yes, yes, I know it's weak, but it's the best I can do.  I really 
think it is just a minor flint.

Second point: Lupin's presense on the train.  I agree.
