On "double Potions" - what I have gleaned from the books about that is that 
the period is twice as long - sort of like having a lecture and lab class in 
the modern world, precisely for something like chemistry or biology - and 
because it takes up two regular class periods, two houses are doubled up 
during that period to use the time most efficiently.
