Just an idea thought regarding both Snape and Lupin, but they must both be very young for such important posts and some of their pupils might end up with crushes on them.  Now, a charm of some kind might just make them less attractive to young females to avoid scandal.

On a side note, there was a recent scandal somewhere when a teacher was in trouble for sleeping with his student, so something to prevent that might be a wise precaution.
