Yes!

This may be Hermione's big mistake, and I don't understand
why she doesn't see the problems her little deal with Rita
can cause.

This is definitely a time to consult Dumbledore or
McGonagall and let them know!

Hermione is the one of the trio who usually does the logical thinking,
but unless she knows something we don't, she's dropped the
ball, here.

I'd be very surprised if this doesn't come back in later
books to haunt them.

And Hermione will feel very, very bad if Harry or someone
else are put into danger because of this.
