Question about Hagrid and Sirius's meeting at Potter's

My guess is, the implications of the line didn't register with 
Hagrid.  He has at this time no reason to believe Sirius is guilty of 
anything (assuming the Secret-Keeper business isn't widely known at 
this point), and he certainly doesn't know what's *really* 
happening.  He probably initially read Sirius' statement as "I don't 
need the bike right now" as opposed to "I won't need it ever again."
