"Fancy seeing you here Professor McGonagall" says Dumbledore in chapter one
of PS/SS. Does anyone else find this strange that he would call her by her
teaching name. He calls her Minerva, he calls Madam Pomfrey, Poppy. So why
would he address her like that? I'm guessing she only puts this in to
introduce the character. She wants to let you know that she is a harsh and
strict character, not your friend. But why would Dumbledore call her by that
name. Or perhaps, McGonagall is someone else, much older than Dumbledore and
he is meant to show respect.
