I don't think is so much a secret as that most people just never
bothered to find out who LV might've been as a boy -- they're too busy
being terrified of what he is now. And I think that's also why
Dumbledore insists on saying "Voldemort" rather than "Riddle." Riddle
isn't the name that people are afraid off. Dumbledore wants everyone
to say the name they're afraid off in order to dispel the fear.
