I pondered this a bit more and have started to wonder why
people are so sure that Harry and Hermione would never
crack.

I can imagine quite a few situations where they would in
order to save somebody else's life.

They might not crack if just their own life is threatened
(but then, neither would Ron. I'm convinced he thought he'd
die in the chess game), but would they really be able to
watch somebody else torture or kill their
friends/family/mentor?

And what exactly do we mean by "crack" anyhow?

Give important information?
Go over to LV's side?
