"Love" of Lily---did it have to be love?

A totally different reason why Snape hated James was not the James 
and Lilly love but let's be honest, why do Draco and Harry hate each 
other? The answer is "WHY NOT!"  If they didn't hate each other, 
they'd find other students to hate.  And if you pick some student to 
hate when you're 11 yrs old, you usually find a reason to hate them 
when your 15 also.   For Snape, it may not have been love of Lilly, 
while she was in love with James.  Do we even know that they (Snape 
and Lilly or James and Lilly) we're together in school???? And if so, 
according to who, Petunia or Dumbledore.  Were they really there to 
see when the love started? Probably not.

But I have another reason why Snape hated James, they came 
from "different backgrounds" (fullblood vs halfblood)and were in 
different houses, so why not dislike each other.  Maybe Snape never 
had any real friends, and he saw James, Lupin, Peter, and Sirius all 
running around being popular and he felt like he should have had that 
kind of friendships and popularity.  Does it really matter why James 
and Snape hated each other, it only matters (as of right now) that 
they did.  Do we really know any of these characters background??? 
NO.  The only one we have any true knowlegde of is Lilly, but that is 
through Petunia, so that is very unrealiable.  We know nothing about 
Snape and James, except that the two disliked each other and at some 
point Snape was a DE!  But does that mean we know anything about any 
of these characters? NO, we do not.  

Who's to say that if Lilly and James had lived, when Harry got to 
school (since Harry would not have been famous) Snape would have even 
spent longer than a second on Harry in class.  Once again, it seems 
that fame and popularity is Snape's reason behind his hate, because 
why would he hate Harry (according to Harry) as much if he 
wasn't "The boy who lived."  Plus we know that Snape believes in 
fame, he talks in SS/PS that he can teach his class to bottle it, 
along with other fun things you can do with Potions.  

I truly feel that if JKR wants us to know why Snape and James hate 
each other, she'll tell us, but until then we will think up all kinds 
of reasons, probably more and more insane than the last, but until 
then we have to accept, that according to others James and Snape 
hated each other, but does that mean it is true or if at school it 
was true and after school things changed, we know Snape changed his 
views on the DE's for some reason (once again, why? Who knows?) and 
we may not know things, maybe Snape was trying to help James and 
Lilly, maybe even protect them.  Maybe along with Dumbledore, he was 
working on ways to keep truly "GOOD" witches and wizards safe from 
LV.  Plus, if Dumbledore knows the future more than he lets on, 
because he sure seems to know what is going on day to day at 
Hogwarts, maybe he knew/knows that he had/has to keep the secret of 
Snape/Lilly/James of becoming friends later in life. Or, maybe 
Dumbledore may not have even known if these three came to some sort 
of understanding, we do know that Dumbledore did NOT know that Peter 
was the secretkeeper even years later, or he would have done more to 
protect Sirius.

Remember, we don't know everything, we only see what Harry tells us 
and the one person who does know everything, is not talking, but 
hopefully she's writing...... STILL WAITING, VERY MUCH WAITING, FOR 
OoP.

Side note...any ideas when it comes out?????????
