disease' is undesirable, but then again, when listening to a sentence or
paragraph in which a word is re-used several times, I get cross. I mean,
repeating 'blast-ended skrewt' is reasonable, as there can be no synonyms,
but why repeat, oh, say, 'excellent'?

That's weird, because I've often been impressed by just how often JKR uses more complex words than you would usually expect to find in a book which many people describe as 'mainly for children'. I can't come up with any immediate examples, but I've often been reading or listening and thought to myself, 'now that'll improve children's use of language, to know that there are so many different ways of putting something'!
