Actually, his father was probably 1/2 Jewish!  Daddy was the product 
of an affair between a maid and her Jewish employer.  But Adolf 
didn't like Daddy very much, so...

(Yes, I know this veers OT, but had to rise to the bait!)

Now, to veer back on target.  We were dicussing the reason for 
bothering to put Crouch Sr. under imperius & send him to Hogwarts 
rather than just get rid of him (either kill or keep him prisoner at 
home). I still think Voldy chose to imperio him so Crouch could 
insist that Harry compete in the Triwizards tournament & then score 
Harry highly in the tasks.  And both of these crucial jobs he does do 
while under the imperius curse.

Yes, Voldy is more than capable of overestimating himself (shades of 
every Batman villian!) but Voldy DID correctly recognize that Crouch 
was starting to fight the imperius curse and made him stop going into 
work.  "I need a little R&R from overwork, Weatherby."  And then 
little Wormtail nearly spoiled Voldy's beautiful scheme by letting 
Barty slip away.  Tsk, tsk.  But he single-handedly made up for his 
mistake.  (Again, I had to rise to the bait.)
