Ok, while I was cooking dinner last night (my main time to ponder
things) I was hit with a really bizzare theory, and I put it out here
to have holes poked in it.

Well, first we have to look at the "brother" wands of Voldemort and
Harry. They have the same cores for power, but Volemort has Yew and
Harry has Holly.

(The following paragraphs are paraphrases.) Well, Yew is
traditionally the tree of death and mourning. Widow's
broches from the Victorian era usually have a picture of a yew tree
on them somewhere. Yews are planted in cemetaries because they were
thought to feed in death and decay (i.e. corpses...humm, pleasant.)

Holly on the other hand, is associated with life. It is an
evergreen. It is alive even in the harshest of winters. This is the
reason it is a Christmas plant, both it and pine are alive and
symbols of life in the time of death and stasis that is winter. And
it is interesting that it is associated with Christmas. For
Christians, this celebrates the birth of Christ. But on the lunar
cycle, December the 21st is the winter solstice (ok, I know I spelled
that wrong, but I am in a bit of a hurry). After the 21st of
December, the days get longer and spring is on its way. Rebirth,
renewal, etc. (All this about the woods is paraphrased from the
*wonderful* etymological site off of the Lexicon.
http://www.theninemuses.net/hp/ If you haven't seen it, it is sooo
worth the reading time. Impressive.)

Ok, so there are the woods of the wands. Certianly Voldemort's has
lived up to its feasting on decay association. And for quite awhile,
I had the thought that maybe Harry's would bring rebirth, etc. by
just ridding the wozarding world of Voldemort. Still it could be.
But what if Harry's "brother" wand had more of a inverse effect to
Voldemort's. I mean, what if it could sort of "undo" Voldemort's
destruction? I know there is no spell that can bring the dead back,
but perhaps this would be something as unexpected as the Priori
Incantatm. Sort of a brother wand effect, as well. One is the wand
of destruction, and one is the wand of life? I don't know, and this
is just a wild theory, but who knows?

Ok, poke holes to your heart's content!

Rachel
