Let's take that a bit further. Let's say Percy gets killed by LV or a
DE.
Now, let's say that, as another poster wrote, the Weasly's all "bawl
their eyes out", plus Harry & Hermione and Penelope, etc.
But then what happens? The Weasley's go on the offensive. Here is a
whole family of very capable wizards. Yes, they all act clownish in
their own ways, but I don't think they are to be trifled with, and
that's a mistake that I hope at least the Malfoys learn the hard way.
Consider:
Dad, MoM employee, head-honcho of Muggle interactions. Has to know
how to counter a lot of curses, wipe a lot of minds, enchant &
disenchant a lot of items, none of it sounds very simple. Also has
friends in high places, Moody for one, but many others.
Mom, seems to be no slouch either. Keeping a housefull of kids is no
easy task, I'm sure she's seen all sorts of stuff, and you can see in
our own world how mothers can go on the warpath when their kids are
at risk or killed.
Brother #1 (forgive me if I get the age order wrong): Dragon-keeper.
Do you want to watch over dragons? Didn't think so -- nuff said.
Brother #2: Studies ancient Egypt. Has encountered various ancient
curses & magic, can't be easy stuff, and if Lily used ancient magic
(according to Dumbledore) to protect Harry, perhaps LV isn't very
good at ancient magic. Ancient Egypt could hold all sorts of
nastiness in store for him.
Brother #3 & 4 (the twins): conniving sons-of-guns if I ever read of
any. They can get themselves out of scrapes, and are definite
schemers and plotters.
Brother #5: at the very least, he is loyal to his friends and family.
Many on the board believe he is a clever strategist (I'm not so sure
of this myself, but the arguments are interesting).
Sister: Well, Ginny's strengths aren't apparent as of yet, but she
did surive Riddle, and that has to account for something.
Throw in Hermione (clever & not afraid to research her way out of
problems, a trait I find very admirable) and Harry (who has trumped
LV four times), and there you have it.
Battle Royale, anyone?
