Yes - it doesn't have to be his - it doesn't matter. And I can't help
thinking Sirius forgot his wand with the motor-cycle he gave Hagrid!
Otherwise he could have done something while PP was cutting his finger
and probably would have. And if my idea of Sirius' wand being
"missing" - or taken as "evidence". But, anyway, PP would have run to
Voldemort to escape Sirius/catchers, findes Voldy reduced. He might
well take the wand (which will join him in transformation so it can
not be found until PP goes to him).

We had an

Even if AD objected, it might not have worked. He would be demanding
Fair Trial in principle (if we don't, are we any better than they
were?). Presumed innocent until proven guilty and to give Fair Trial
for the whole truth to be revealed - Not easy at that time, but it is
*right*. The speech - war was coming, hard times would follow, he
believes he'll die before it's over. I shall wait for AD's beginning
of the year - speech in Book#5 with interest.

True. Which is why he - poor thing.
And I hope Sirius forgot his wand - that way he can get one!
