The Dark is Rising series is definitely a good read--my personal
favorites are the 1st and 3rd books, the ones set in Cornwall.

That sounds pretty interesting actually, what's the name of the film?
THe kind of ending I'm talking about is the "and it was all just a
dream" kind. I think these endings are cop-outs on the author's part
because it frees the author from having to convincingly explain their
magical world's existance, and also frees them from having to show
how the characters deal with being aware of/existing in two worlds.
The Dream Ending is, IMO, an easy way out of justinfying the author's
fantasy world. I don't think JKR will do this because her wizarding
world is so well thought out in most aspects, including, I'm sure,
how it is connected to the muggle world in more ways than we've seen
before.
cheers!
