I absolutely agree. I was not trying to dig up any foundation for a 
circle of fate plaguing the characters of the Potterverse. In fact 
put like that I hate the idea. What I was pointing out was that there 
are certain similarities (solely) in the way the Marauders and HRH 
deal with their schooldays' foes and that these, far from determining 
the future of the trio, could help us fill in the gaps in our 
knowledge about the previous generation's past. And 
in a book this sort of inside—out –predestination is not unreasonable 
(though as Eloise points out if it is taken too far it can easily 
turn unsubtle). It simplifies matters. It keeps the story from being 
unnecessarily overloaded. For example, it allows the reader to 
understand the antipathy between James and Snape just with on phrase 
of Dumbledore's, no lengthy narrations of their confrontations needed—
we've already gone though all that with Harry and Draco.
