Florence/Firenze

Theory:
Florence is not evil – Florence unexpectedly resisted

Reasoning:
Firenze the centaur.  Firenze is the city that English speakers call 
Florence (check out http://english.firenze.net/, if you like).  In 
PS/SS, the Centaurs have a somewhat heated exchange because Firenze 
took action to save Harry, and acted against what was foretold in the 
stars.  Centaurs, are not meant to interfere, they are expected to 
just let things unfold.  With the purposeful naming JKR has 
demonstrated throughout the series, it seems almost certain (IMO) 
that these two characters are connected in some way.  All we know of 
Florence is that she was caught in a little lip-lock with a hex-
hurling hunk (sorry about "hunk" but I couldn't resist the 
alliteration).  We know a bit more about Firenze.  For instance, he 
did not back down from his decision to set himself against what he 
already knew was LV in the forest, even though it greatly upset the 
other Centaurs (the others that we know about, anyway).  We also know 
that Firenze was aware of LV's plan to get the stone and that he was 
subsisting on Unicorn blood, but he didn't warn the humans.  He only 
interfered when he thought it was critical to do so.  If these two 
characters share the common bond that I think they do, then like 
Firenze, Florence knew that evil was brewing, and was expected not to 
interfere.  But at some critical moment, she chose to stand against 
evil, shocking those around her.
